Here is the blog assignment for this week.
Look over these two sites. One is about how atoms work, the other is about how cells work. For each, I want you to do the following:
- Write about something that really surprised you.
- Write about something you would like to know more about.
So, you are writing about both atoms and cells, and for each saying both of these two things.
I really look forward to your responses. Be sure to use a word processor in composing your answers. And, as usual, remember to post 3 comments to what other students have said (and use a word processor for these as well).

1. When look at yourself in a mirror you see about 10 trillion cells divided into about 200 different types.
2. I would like to know more about how cells get made.

For “how atoms work” I thought that it was cool that smaller pieces of an atom are called subatomic particles.
I would like to know mre about nuclear power.

Something that really surprised me about atoms of any element are always the same size, shape, and color no matter what they are in. Something I would really like to know is more about Daltons. I would also like to know a lot more about how they whey atoms and how much the different elements weigh.
Something that really surprised me about cells is that E. coli cells are actually simple and very easy to understand. Something I would really like to know more about in cells are about human cells because they are much more complicated and hard to understand.

I was suprised by many things such as gold atoms are made up of mostly air and that they acholly can mishere atoms in meaters
atom = 1 x 10-10 meters
nucleus = 1 x 10-15 to 1 x 10 -14 meters
neutron or proton = 1 x 10-15 meters
electron – not known exactly, but thought to be on the order of 1 x 10-18 meters
I also wonder is light made up of adoms?
Is fire made up of adoms?
Is bread made of adoms or cells?
Do all cells repreduce?
Does bacreira have a instinct to attac larger cells?
Are dead leavs made up of cells, dead cells, or attoms?

I liked how you listed the dimensions of the nucleus, protons, atoms, and electrons. I liked your questions, they were very interesting.

I liked your comments, but I think you should expand on your ideas more, and made it a little longer. Otherwise, good job.

Something that really surprised me about atoms was the periodic table of elements. It surprised me because it seemed like it was aacidently made. Something I would like to know more about for atoms is if atoms didn’t exist could we still be here? Something that really surprised me about cells was that there are so many different kinds of cells. I thought there was like 4 or 5 different kinds of cells. Something I would like to know more about for cells is what would happen if there weren’t any cells.

Hotdawg911 Cells & Atoms
These articles were really well written! I liked the one about atoms so much that I actually read that whole thing! Some interesting things I learned about atoms were that they can be broken down into even smaller parts, called subatomic particles, and that it took us a long time to figure out the mystery of an atom. Something interesting I learned about cells was that there are over 200 different types, just in our bodies. I would really like to know more about how atoms are built, and less about how you can measure them (that started to get a little boring). I would also like to know some of the different types of cells, and how they are structured.
Overall, I enjoyed reading the articles, and learned a lot in the process.

1.) I didn’t know Greek philosophy helped to formulate the idea of an atom!
2.) I would like to learn more about atoms making elements.
3.) Bacteria are simpler than human cells!
4.) I would like to learn more about the different kinds of cells.

Isn’t weird that you could know so much about something you could never touch, see or smell? Well I think it’s really surprising that pople can know so much about atoms although they can never hear, smell, weigh, feel or see them even when using a microscope. I would like to know more about how they get all of this information.
I think it’s really weird that there can be so many sells in just one person. What I’m confused about is, are cells living? And if not, they how can form and do so many things?

You did a great job but maybe you should expand and explain more about what your talking about next time. Keep up the good work!

One thing that surprised me about atoms was how much their particles connect to radioactivity. I obviously knew they must in some way because atoms are a part of everything but I didn’t realize about the gold atoms and how different particles of atoms have all those affects that they told about from the experiment. I would like to know a lot more about the weight of atoms. That part wasn’t really clear, at least not to me, and I think it would be very interesting to learn more about. I’m not sure if there is a straight conclusion to that but if there is I would want to learn more about it because the section on that was a little confusing.
I thought that the part about the cellular antibiotics and poisons was surprising. I hadn’t known exactly how antibiotics work and it was interesting and surprising to find out what you are the affects actually are on your body and cells. One thing that I want to learn more about is genetic diseases. It looked pretty interesting from what I read. I would be interested to know what the chances of getting a genetic disease are, and are there ways to stop it or cure different types of it.

ATOMS and CELLS
I think that is extremely cool how we made atomic bombs out of the idea of atoms. Something I learned that I never knew was when an atom is split into smaller pieces it is called subatomic particles. I thought it was really cool how they showed how an atom is split by a neutron.
I thought that cells cleaning parts of a body is pretty cool. I never knew that. Something that I still didn’t know was your muscles are made of muscle cells, and that there are over two hundred different types of cells in your body. I thought the information in the articles were cool and I enjoyed reading them.

I was suprised to learn that taking antibiotic’s to long makes them ineffective over time. I am taking them at this time due to being sick. I would like to learn more about DNA
I found the atom parts and how there are arranaged to be interesting. I would like to learn more how they work.
