I really enjoyed our field trips to the Audubon in Greenwich this past Wednesday and Thursday.

We got our hands dirty exploring three habitats — a pond, a river, and a forest. Here are some pictures from the trip.

I am very interested in hearing what you have to say about the trip. What did you like? What would you want to change? Just please make sure to make up a user name for yourself. And be sure to tell me in class what it is.

I thought that the Audobon trip was interesting. I thought that it was cool to learn about a lot of different animals and insects in their enviroment. I also thought that it was really cool to see the animals live and not just in pictures.

I thought the trip was alot of fun! I really enjoyed using pasta strainers to find animals in the pond. I thought that filling out the lab made the trip not quite as good but I think that if more of it was multiple choice then it would make the trip better. I learned alot about insects and pond species and liked having a hands-on experience! I discovered that vernal pools were pools that go ‘crazy’ on the vernal equinox!

I thought the Audubon trip was interesting. I never knew there were a lot of small living things just living in one simple place like a pond or a river. It was fun trying to find the creatures and observing them. I also liked how we learned not only about small animals but about plants too, like trees. This trip really fit into the image of the science ecosystem.

the trip was a good review of how all the different types of habitats (an ecosystem)work to do this or that. I particularly enjoyed the scrounging the larger pond. It’s fascinating to see all the different organisms that live in the water.
